So, odds are, you made some New Years resolutions to start 2020 off with a bang? Right? Then the world shut down and everything went out the door.
If you were like me, you probably over ate and over spent. But how often did you find yourself making excuses along the way?
I know, we’re still in the midst of a pandemic and frankly, that’s the reason we’re allowed to make excuses for everything right now......
Let’s start by understanding what excuses are. They’re a defense mechanism that allow “controversial behaviors” in our life to be justified.
Now, we have just under 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨 left in the year and you still have time to make some progress toward a goal. You still have some time to start working on yourself. You still have some time to start wiping away the excuses....you still have time!
I can tell you, it was a rough few months for everyone. I was on an emotional rollercoaster, having lost family members who passed away, having anxiety from seeing photos of my grandma laying in a hospital bed and me being 2000 miles away with no way to travel there. I remember the stress of having to work during the whole pandemic....and to top it all off, we decided to do a home renovation during it all.
There was no time for the “what if’s”. There was time for self care (but that’s a whole ‘nother topic). It was important for me to keep the right mindset to navigate the many different approaches to so many areas of my life coming to crossroads. So, know you were not alone in this crazy journey. We all got lost a few times along the way and we all very likely made some excuses.
Here’s where I remind you...you still have time! There is still hours in the day for you to start working on new projects, new ideas, planning new adventures.
Start with removing these excuses from your vocabulary:
1. “I can’t do it anyway”
2. “It’s not worth it”
3. “I should’ve..... I would’ve...... I could’ve.....”
4. “I don’t really know what I want”
5. “I’ll do it tomorrow....”
6. “It’s too much work” or “I work too much and don’t have time”
7. “I’m scared”
8. “I can’t afford it”
9. “What’s the point”
Now is YOUR TIME!
